Circles within Circles: Interactive Drum Circles
Why are drum circles becoming increasingly popular in social and professional situations?
Our lives are lived within circles. Potentially, our largest circle is worldwide while the smallest may be within our own immediate family. We belong to organizations, clubs, teams, and common interest groups. We have parties and festivals, we create special occasions and celebrations within our circles; the fact is, human interaction is a necessity for a healthy long life. Drum circles offer us a way to create safe, fun, spontaneous interaction in any and all places where people will be present. Drum circles help to create a deep feeling of community and belonging.
What is considered a ‘community drum circle’?
A community drum circle is just that. A drum-circle for a specific community and not necessarily the one you live in. It could be a drum circle for your conference, it could be a drum circle for your festival, it could be a drum circle for your summer camp and all the campers. Anywhere you find a group of people gathered upon a common theme, that is community and drum circles are incredibly appropriate in these situations and a lot of fun!
Will Mark do more then one drum circle in a day?
Absolutely! Some situations such as festivals , workshop programs , teacher in-service days , etc warrant more then one circle in a day. Mark’s experience in all types of situations makes it easy to serve all your people as needed.
How much time is needed for a drumcircle?
That depends on your particular situation or needs. They can be as short as 15 minutes for a rhythm ‘icebreaker’ or they can be as long as two hours.
